Comparing Woocommerce, Jigoshop, Shopify & Magento — Who is The Winner?

As e-Commerce businesses are getting more and more popular, day by day, there are a growing number of platforms to work with. But which one should you choose for your business, and how do you make sure that you have made the right choice? In this article, I will discuss pros and cons of 4 of the most popular options: Woocommerce, Jigoshop, Shopify and Magento.

Jigoshop

Both Woocommerce and Jigoshop are similar plugins for WordPress. To design an e-Commerce site either of these plugins can be used.  Overall, Woocommerce is a winner compared to Jigoshop as Woocommerce provides 49 out of 50 of the features that are required in an e-Commerce business whereas Jigoshop offers only 33 out of the 50 features in total.  Check out the comparison list here. So when you compared Jigoshop to Magento, definitely Magento is the winner with its powerful list of features and so many opportunities for customization. Jigoshop has all the basic features that you need for a e-Commerce business but it will be difficult to use this platform for a larger platform.  When you consider Jigoshop vs Shopify, Shopify is a better choice for small business all the required information and support is always available but you need to invest on Shopify to get all of its feature whereas Jigoshop is free. For more details on Jigoshop, check out their website.

Shopify

Shopify provides its own hosting, so you don’t have worry about it. Just simply log into their site and create your account. It provides all the support you need in an e-Commerce business it has a user-friendly template, it comes with built-in SEO feature and customer support but this platform is not free it comes with 14day trial period and 3 premium packages and you have to make payment to use all its features. Magento

Magento is the most flexible e-commerce platform. This large platform can be used for any type of business you prefer — including complicated, multi-national and multi-currency setups. It comes with a professional look, and it has relatively well-organized information and categories, which covers every aspect that you might want in your store. The downside is that Magento is much more difficult to customize than other options listed here and, unless you’re an experienced web developer, you will need the help of a professional — and Magento’s premium support plan is very expensive. WooCommerce

WooCommerce, on the other hand, is perfect, easy to install, comes with a very user-friendly interface. You can easily filter your products in specific categories such as sales by date, by category, and much more. But it does not provide any domain, hosting services, so you have to need to have a domain, hosting and an e-commerce template. The basic maintenance cost will totally depend on you. Other than that its perfect for most e-commerce businesses. For more details check out their website.

Is there a clear winner?

Even after making a fair comparison between all 4 of these options, it’s difficult to name a winner. The choice should totally depend on your type of business, its geographic market, your marketing objectives and overall growth capacity. If you think you have a large business (particularly multi-national), a decent budget for website development and a marketing team that is happy to run external products/services to promote and analyze your store, then Magento may be the right choice for you — it certainly has been the best choice for large platforms in the past (although I have a feeling that other providers are fast catching up). If you want a free plugin with all the e-Commerce features then WooCommerce is the right choice for your excluding other costs that are required along with it. This certainly is the most popular amongst startups. However, if you want a free plugin with just basic e-Commerce features then Jigoshop is still a good choice. And finally, for premium plugins, Shopify is a great option for your business.
